Headed out with Heather and Martin for a day of searching for winter camping spots. Checked out location from Renfrew to Griffith to Calabogie and back to Renfrew. Many of the backroads we encountered were closed and seem unused in the winter.
Found a few possible location along the route but might be more suitable for summer camping.
Stopped at Black Donald Creek for a quick snowshoe. Travelled uphill in eight inches of fresh powder for half a kilometre before returning to the creek and snowshoeing along a snowmobile trail on the creek and getting these pictures.
Stopped for a quick lunch in Calabogie and tested out new stove. Martin and I have the same stove. He used propane while I used isobutane. The propane performed 100% better than the isobutane in the -18c and I ended up using his stove to heat my water.
Fun day talking about upcoming 2022 adventures.
